"On normal difficulty there are a few minor challenge spikes, but it’s pitched about right for average gamers, and combat encounters mix and match enemies to force you to prioritise and use different tactics." - IGN
"Knack 2’s best idea is to offer four different levels of difficulty. Easy and normal will find favor with younger, less experienced players, who ought to be able to get through even the toughest battles without too much trouble. I found the middle sections of the game spiked slightly in difficulty, as Knack encountered tougher enemies before he has won better moves, but not to the point of frustration." - Polygon
"Mario veterans won’t find anything here too challenging. Besides, if players become stuck on a particular puzzle, the game helpfully provides a hint or two." - Gamesradar

The original Knack was a surprisingly difficult game, not merely because of the poor checkpoint system, but because of the unexpectedly intense and busy combat, which ultimately made it a tough sell for younger players, even on lower difficulties.

Thankfully Knack 2 has improved things across the board here, and in addition to fixing the sparseness of checkpoints, has toned the combat down somewhat to be a little more manageable.

Several reviewers have noted the occasional difficulty spike, but thanks to the intuitive checkpoints, there's nothing that measures up to the infuriation of the original game.

In short, kids won't be calling on their parents to help them out every 10 minutes.
