Knights Of The Old Republic Remake - Everything We Know

5. It Could Still Get Cancelled At Any Time

KOTOR Remake
LucasArts

This is still EA we're talking about, please remember. Birds gotta fly, fish gotta swim, and EA gotta cancel promising projects because they don't sit their market whim of the week.

There is still sadly a chance that all of these rumours and speculation may amount to nothing, because EA decides along the way that a KOTOR remake just wasn't worth the trouble. And for our slightly younger readers who think I'm overreacting, go Google a game called Star Wars 1313. It was a promising project set in the seedy underbelly of Coruscant. We even have full on gameplay footage that made it look like it was mere months away from being released. However, because EA decided it wasn't worth the money, it was hamstrung right at the finish line and cancelled, with similar Star Wars projects succumbing to cancellation in the years following.

It doesn't matter how close to being done it is, EA WILL cancel it if it feels like it. Hell, we went through at least 4 different Star Wars projects before we landed on Jedi: Fallen Order. And frankly, it's a miracle even that one got released.

It would be absolutely wonderful if we got that ideal remake of Knights Of The Old Republic that we're all dreaming of. But don't get your hopes up too high. Remember who we're dealing with here.
