Knights Of The Old Republic Remake - Everything We Know

6. It Will Rebuild The Entire Story From The Ground Up

KOTOR Remake
BioWare

As was said in a previous entry, KOTOR is officially back in the mainline canon. But there's a little issue there. The new Star Wars EU has been very busy in its absence, and has been very much enjoying the new freedom from being released from the old EU before it started picking and choosing what parts of that old continuity it actually wanted back.

So if KOTOR and KOTOR 2 ARE remade, then it won't be as simple as giving them a much needed HD touch up, but instead will be a full on, from the ground up remake of one or both games in the vein of the remakes of the Resident Evil games or Final Fantasy VII. This means that not only will we get a whole new story, but also very likely remaking the gameplay from the ground up as well.

Hopefully it will do what the Resident Evil remakes did and expand on the base gameplay until it's something new and different, but also something that fits into the spirit of KOTOR.

And while they're at it, they might as well retool some of the story elements that don't really gel with the new canon. This will mean basically making a whole new story where the characters have all new roles, but as long as Mission is snarky, Canderous is a sh*t-stirrer, and Bastila is still the best, fans will be happy.
