Legend Of Zelda: Ranking Every Ganon From Worst To Best

6. Oracle Of Ages/Seasons

The Oracle adventures for the Game Boy Colour contain one of the coolest mechanics in the Zelda universe. The two games, Ages and Seasons, can be played independent of one another, but it’s only by connecting the two games (via password or the now-archaic link cable) that you can do battle with Ganon - naturally, the final boss.

For novelty purposes, this makes for one of the most impressive Ganon battles yet. It’s not enough to complete one game - here you’ve got to vanquish evil twice, with your reward being the opportunity to save the day once again.

What’s more, the Ganon you fight here isn’t your usual demon king - due to a bungled resurrection by sororal sorcerers Twinrova, this monster is utterly mindless, driven purely by the impulse to destroy the hero.

Disappointingly, though, the battle itself doesn’t reflect this - it’s essentially the same as the last several variations. He warps around an arena, shoots stuff at you and tries to whack you with his trident.

The Oracles games pushed the handheld console to their limits, with innovative storytelling, graphics, and hidden content. It’s just a shame the secret ending didn’t provide much more than we’re already used to from the franchise.
