Legend Of Zelda: Ranking Every Ganon From Worst To Best
4. Twilight Princess
Twilight Princess is nothing if not ambitious. Self consciously the darkest installment in the Zelda canon, it ups the ante massively in terms of scope. It’s a real battle of light and dark, with Ganon here representing not just a bad, greedy bloke, but the ultimate embodiment of unkillable evil.
He loses points for taking a back seat for so much of the story. Twilight Princess’ Ganondorf doesn’t appear until half way through the game, revealing himself to be the real power behind erstwhile primary antagonist King Zant. If it feels like he’s shoehorned into the game because the fans want to see him, he makes up for it through power and sheer malevolence.
This Ganon seems indestructible - ancient sages attempt to execute him, but all they manage is to banish him to another world, which he swiftly takes over. Furthermore, Twilight Princess has one of the all time great final boss battles, with the fiend battling you in his monster form, on horseback, and finally in a one on one duel.
Twilight Princess is a tad up and down on the whole, but it certainly doesn’t drop the ball when it comes to the final clash. Saving Hyrule has rarely felt so satisfying.
