10. Clay Matthews - 96
wikiClay Matthews is a fine football player. He owns a Superbowl ring, has been to the Pro Bowl 4 times and is a two time All Pro. He has also been plagued by injuries the last couple of years and has been part of one of the worst defences in the NFL. Now I know a teams deficiencies should not reflect that of the individual but there are simply two many negative factors weighing against Matthews' huge 96 rating. When on the field he is certainly a factor but a broken thumb last year and constant double teams limited Matthews to only 7.5 sacks. Premier QB rushers like JJ Watt and Robert Mathis receive just as much attention as Matthews yet get the job done on a far more regular basis. No.10 on my list and by no means deserving a huge ratings decrease, it is Matthews outrageously high rating from last season which largely sees him in this category. I hope and expect Matthews to be given a low 90's overall rating in this year's Madden edition. His bubbly personality and shocking blonde hair may work for him, it looks as though his blonde locks are everywhere on the field, but will this sustain his reputation on the field and in the game? We'll see in August.
