Madden 19 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs
2. Great Distinction In Gameplay Styles
Adding to this is EA's distinction between how individual players want to play.
Some will plump for Madden's simulation style straight away, and that's arguably the best and most immersive way to play. The thrill of outsmarting the NFL's best, forcing penalties, using timeouts when they matter most and knowing that every single player (gamer controlled or CPU) on the field has limitations is remarkably thrilling.
Then, for those who want some adrenaline and old-school flavour, there's the arcade mode. If you fancy throwing bombs right down the middle of a defensive line-ups gut without much fear of losing the game on that one play, then this is for you. Arcade drops sim's heavy punishments in favour of flashy moments, implausible end zone to end zone play and ludicrous passes.
EA's dedication to customisation affords gamers who want an experience somewhere the middle that option too. AI on your side and the CPU's team can be doctored to make them quicker/slower, aggressive/more laid back, prone to fumbles and more.
