Madden 19 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs
3. Learn On The Fly Variety Of Running & Passing Plays
Knowing when to go for a simple running play and when to launch a more daring passing one is key to success in Madden 19. At first, the sheer number of plays available can be overwhelming, and it's hardly easy to figure out what's happening on a time limit, or what some of the terminology actually means.
Enter EA's excellent suggestion feature.
Those who don't know their PA Post Shots from their HB Lead Dives will be pleased to find out that Madden predicts the opposing team's set up and guides from there. Although this has been a recurring feature in the series, it feels smoother in 19. Over time, it'll clue newcomers into what works against what, and when they should select certain plays.
It removes the need for rapid speed of thought from a game that goes heavy on tactics. By learning on the fly and being able to let pride give way to handholding, even the most unskilled of gamers will get to have fun without bogging themselves down with endless formations, playbooks and concepts.
