Madden 20: 7 Biggest Changes You Need To Know

6. Pump Fakes

Madden 20
EA Sports

Nobody who played much of Madden 19 needs reminded that pump fakes were pretty much useless. The CPU always seemed to read them, and the exaggerated (and frankly slow) animations of players made it even more difficult to fool human players. EA's improvements should ease the pain.

Now, thanks to slicker animations overall, fakes won't end up being less sneaky than an Eli Manning hand off to Saquon. There's a new cancellation mechanic for throws too; just as your QB is about to launch one, simply double tap the same button to cancel it and try another play instead.

All going well, we'll be using this often, and probably starting fights with fooled opponents via Ultimate Team.

So, if you avoided pump fakes altogether in 19, brace yourself to give them more of a look-in this time. Keeping defences guessing is such a crucial part of real-life NFL, and it was about time EA made that subterfuge more accessible to players who love a bit of chicanery.
