Madden 20 Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs
1. Superstar X-Factors Make A Difference
Here it is, the one feature that makes Madden 20's gameplay stand out.
Prior titles (at least those on PS4 and Xbox One) have done a poor job of separating the skill sets of the NFL's best players from the rest of the pack. Playing as Seattle's Russell Wilson or LA's Aaron Donald never gave the impression of superior quality. They had high stats, sure, but they would throw the ball and sack the same as everyone else.
Superstar X-Factors change all that, and they change it for the better. The 50 finest players in the league now have tangible authority to stroll through games, bust out the big plays when the chips are down or dominate rivals in a one-sided shut out. It's marvellous to see, and it's preposterous to envision playing Madden without this feature now.
Patrick Mahomes can throw further than most, Michael Thomas catches like he has glue on his hands, Von Miller puts the fear of death into QBs and Khalil Mack is practically unstoppable. This forces players to think more about who they throw the ball to, who they control pre-snap and who can make a difference.
