Madden 20 Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs
2. Pass Interceptions Are 10x More Realistic
In previous Madden games, certainly on this generation of hardware, pass interceptions often resulted in frayed tempers and broken controllers. Watching a defensive player inconceivably leap 12ft across the field (like a helmeted salmon with super powers) to nab the ball from your receiver's hands was always a tantrum-causing moment.
Those impossible jumps are a thing of the past.
Interceptions, whilst still a worry if the pass isn't on point or receivers aren't in the right position, are 10x more realistic than they were before. Indeed, it's slightly easier to pick out players between multiple opponents even in the tightest of spaces, and this is an improvement that makes end zone touchdown passes or two-point attempts a better option than last year.
Players aren't mapped to the ball like they seemed to be before now. They jump naturally, might not jump at all depending on the angle their body is at, and there's a better cut and thrust when it comes to throwing deep down the field.
Bonus tip: adjust the penalty sliders out of the box, because pass interference is more sensitive.
