Madden NFL 22 Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

1. Homefield Advantages

This right here might be the best reason to pick Madden up on PS5/Xbox Series X/S.

PS4 and Xbox One releases don't come with the 'Homefield Advantages' feature. What is it? Well, think about how tough it can be for real-life NFL squads to roll into enemy territory and hear their QB pre-snap. Stadiums should rock when their team is on top, and they should be quiet as mice when away teams steal all the momentum with one bold play.

This year, all 32 teams boast their own set of unique homefield boosts that hinge on how the game is going. Granted, it doesn't swing quite as wildly as NFL action does in reality, but it's a good feature and adds a new layer of tactical depth to the gameplay.

EA poached it from the old NCAA games, and it was about time. Offensive audibles stumble when you're away to the Chiefs, Packers' fans roar their rivals into submission and sap them of energy if Green Bay are winning, and more.

All of them mean every game has a chance to be different. That's a huge plus for Madden.
