Mafia 3: 8 New Gameplay Features You Need To Know About
6. Executions Are A Vital Part Of Gunplay
Anyone who's anyone knows that Mafia III is hella violent; almost grotesque, some would say. The level of onscreen carnage is certainly disconcerting (if only for the fact it could serve to desensitise after a while), but executions do, in fact, serve a higher purpose than to solely add some bloody ambience to the story's proceedings.
Hangar 13 have placed great emphasis on Lincoln's combat prowess with each successive trailer for Mafia III. Apart from just shooting the competition, (which is clearly so last year, god) the Vietnam vet can bludgeon, pulverise, and eviscerate just about every enemy that crosses him given the opportune moment.
It's a feature that refuses to wear out its novelty, if only because it sounds as though their effects take a psychological toll on big Sal's enforcers.
It's a pillar of gameplay the devs have yet to really draw attention to (no doubt because certain elements of the mechanic are already drawing very valid and just concerns from other commentators), but it only further reinforces Mafia's credentials as an innovator in the medium. Here's hoping there's more to it than just blood, sweat, and (presumably) tears.
