Magic: The Gathering: 10 Most Powerful Mono-Blue Cards In 2020 Standard

1. Shark Typhoon

Sharknado, we're all thinking it, let's just get that out of the way. As silly as the art may be the card is deadly serious. As has been touched on previously versatility is key for the blue cards that are in today's standard. Versatility is present in multiple ways on Shark Typhoon.

On it's face Shark Typhoon is five generic mana and one blue mana for an Enchantment that does nothing when it hits the battlefield. The important part with Shark Typhoon is realizing that it's really a modal spell. One mode gives you a permanent affect and the other lets you draw cards and make a creature. You may cycle Shark Typhoon for one generic and one blue mana to replace it with another card. If you want to you may pay extra to make a flying shark creature with power and toughness equal to the amount you paid. Against aggressive decks you get to draw a card and make a blocker. Late game you make all of your spells better by having them also make flying threats!

Something that can be appreciate about Magic is how deep and strategic a game it can be without losing its sense of humor. However, when one card can do so much at any point in the game it's time to take it very seriously.
