Magic: The Gathering - 10 Most Powerful Mono-White Cards In 2020 Standard
These are the 10 Mono-White cards to keep in mind if you're playing with or playing against white.
While we haven't seen a competitive mono-white deck since Dominaria was in standard, that doesn't mean that there aren't some powerful cards to keep your eye on. Powerful creatures, enchantments, protection, and removal can all be found in white; sometimes these different parts can be found on the same card.
There's always been a place for white cards in standard and the current times are no different. While the appearances of mono-white cards may be relatively lower than they have in the past; the cards that are present are very powerful examples of what white cards can do.
In white you'll find cards that gain you life, cards that can be walls against aggressive decks, removal both permanent and temporary, board wipes, and even reanimation.
Some of the most powerful cards in the current standard meta are mono-white. If you like playing white cards these are some you should absolutely consider including in your deck, depending on its strategy of course.
If you find yourself playing against an opponent who has a few open white mana then keep and eye out for some of these mono-white monsters!
10. Hushbringer
A popular sideboard card, and even a mainboard include in life gain decks, Hushbringer can shut down popular sacrifice combos and other enter the battlefield or dying triggers. The downside to shutting down etb (enter the battlefield) combos is that popular escape cards Kroxa and Uro don't need to be sacrificed when they are first cast meaning those 6 power creatures stick around on turn two.
A 1/2 flyer for 2 mana normally isn't worth a second look. Lifelink can make it semi-relevant to life gain strategies as a 2 drop flyer can get in for some damage in the early game. The main reason Hushbringer sees any kind of play is its static ability of shutting off enter the battlefield and dying triggers. It largely sees sideboard play because it doesn't fit the specific strategies of most decks plus the previously mentioned Kroxa and Uro unintended consequences.
Hushbringer can be a wooden stake to the vampiric heart of popular cat combo and other sacrifice strategies. As long as you can protect it from all of the removal those decks can pack Hushbringer is easily worth its sideboard slots and earns its place here by being able to shut down one of the most popular current standard strategies.
