Magic: The Gathering: 10 Most Powerful Planeswalker Cards
5. Liliana Of The Veil
There have been many Liliana Planeswalker cards printed throughout the years, but none that left as much of an impression as Liliana of the Veil. She might not look like much to the casual observer, but for 3 mana she does a lot.
Forcing your opponent to discard cards every turn makes them priorities what they want to keep and, unless they’re running graveyard dependant decks, puts them in an awkward spot. Her -2 ability bypasses the indestructible tag and bypasses any targeting restrictions as you force your opponent to sacrifice one of their creatures, keeping the board safe and potentially keeping her alive.
Her ultimate however is where she becomes truly incredible. Half of your opponent’s permanents being sacrificed already sounds like a lot, but if you put all of their mana into one pile and everything else into another, you make them decide between their board and having future turns. Even if this forces them to keep their board presence, you can always destroy what’s left which black does better than any other colour.
