7. What The Stars Next To Trophies Mean

What little tutorial there is in Mario Kart is already tucked away behind the logos at the bottom of the main menu, and even that doesn't break down what the three random-looking stars are next to your trophies in the Grand Prix mode.

Indeed, upon completion of a Cup, place in the top three and you'll get a trophy - though these additional stars are awarded based on your performance in each of the four races. For 54-56 points you get one star, 57-59 nets you two, and 60 points is all three.

Ostensibly, you'll want to place first in at least two of the four races, with the other two being top three finishes to lock it in.
