12. A Secret With Drifting & Cornering

Another thing to note when you're drifting in MK Tour, is the actual momentum and "feel" has changed considerably.

What I mean is, where in other Mario Karts, you'd wait until the end of your drift before releasing the button; knowing you can course-correct using the D-pad or analogue stick, here there's no such thing.

Instead, to maintain speed when coming out of a corner or to get faster lap times overall, know that letting go of drift will fire your kart forward a significant amount in the direction they're facing.

This last part is key to overtaking or approaching the next portion of a given track at the right angle, so get used to looking at where your kart is facing and not the screen, then let off drift at the correct time.
