1. Spider-Man

Black Panther just misses the top spot because he doesn't last long when subjected to sustained attacks, whereas Spider-Man is as strong as he is durable. He has all of the perks of the other web-slingers without any of the drawbacks; a projectile blast that can be fired immediately after swinging, agile combos and a wrecking ball special attack that absolutely wrecks a boss's stagger gauge.

You can tell he's going to be one of the best heroes even from his base light-attack combo, which can fluidly be combined into a web-swing kick, and followed up by firing down web attacks from above. This loop can wipe out a bunch of enemies at once, and keeping in the air during hectic fights becomes essential in avoiding AOE boss attacks while still delivering a surprising amount of damage.

The costume is great as well - so good in fact that it kind of makes up for there being no proper alternates.
