Marvel's Avengers Game: 10 Gameplay Details You Totally Missed
1. The Story Will Be Rolled Out As A Live Service
Now, this one could turn out to be something of an issue. Though Square Enix has been careful to not refer to Avengers as a 'live service' (no doubt because of how soured that term has become over the past year or so), it's clear that, labels or not, that's what they're building.
Though they don't have a grand, ten-year plan like Bungie did with Destiny, they're building the game with the idea of adding in lots more content as the years go on, which apparently will indeed effect the story.
The devs have promised that Avengers will deliver a satisfying narrative, but that it's only the beginning, and more single-player and multiplayer content will be rolled out in the future. In theory, that's great, as the team could almost mimic the structure of a comic-book story moving forward, regularly releasing updates that flesh out another saga in this universe.
However, fans have been burned on this idea too many times before. Between Anthem and Destiny, The Division and Battlefield V, publishers and developers always promise a roadmap, but often it just feels like it's to mask the fact that the core game itself is completely lacking in content.
