Marvel's Avengers Game: 10 Gameplay Details You Totally Missed

9. Specific Missions Will Require Playing As Specific Characters

While a huge draw of Avengers will be customising your team of heroes, you won't be able to select a main and play as only them for the entirety of the campaign. To perhaps make sure you experience the full breadth of being part of a superhero team, depending on the mission players will be forced to play as specific Avengers that suit the story best.

It's probably a smart move, as it ensures no character gets sidelined (which, let's face it, would be Hawkeye), but it does bring into question how much freedom you'll have over your team. Despite the obvious comparisons, this probably isn't going to be a Marvel: Ultimate Alliance deal where you can swap in anyone you want without fear of messing up the main story, but in turn that should lead to tighter storytelling.

The Avengers game needs to dig deep into these characters and separate them from their movie counterparts in the same way Spider-Man did for the wall crawler, and specific missions designed to do just that is ultimately a good thing.
