Marvel's Avengers Game: 12 Secrets, Easter Eggs & References Explained

1. THAT Final Boss Battle

Although the game doesn't really telegraph that the final fight IS a big deal, make no mistake - it's one hell of a doozy.

As the Avengers come together to take on Tarleton (who's now fully MODOK-ified), a giant android emerges out of the ground and he flies into it. You could be forgiven for thinking that this was a cheeky nod to the X-Men, as the giant bot does look VERY Sentinel-y in nature. However, it's actually a Kree Sentry - something confirmed by the final story achievement, which rewards players for defeating MODOK "and the Kree".

What does this mean? Well it would be safe to assume that Crystal Dynamics have some Captain Marvel content in mind to arrive shortly. Danvers already has a model present, and given the fact she also gets a shout out at the beginning, it makes sense why she could be joining a lot sooner than we may have initially thought.

As for the Sentries themselves, they've been around since the first run of Captain Marvel comics in the late 1960s. They're giant automatons used by the Kree Empire to guard their territory, although why they're on Earth in Marvel's Avengers is currently anyone's guess.
