It took some time, but we now know something about the fabled Square Enix Avengers game. It seems like it’s been cooking forever, but the momentum of the MCU is so strong, it hasn’t missed its window.
As many predicted, it’s being made by Crystal Dynamics and Edios Montreal, the people behind the Tomb Raider reboot. Although that trilogy ended with a strange little whimper in Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, all things considered they got Lara Croft back to the top, and are a sensible pick here.
While we’ve seen no gameplay footage yet, some elongated segments are likely coming soon. With the CGI trailer and subsequent information from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix though, we know enough about the game’s overall structure and direction, even if we haven’t seen it play yet.
Games rarely show game footage right off the bat these days, and the cinematic style trailer has already generated enough hype on its own.
Xbox fans can breathe a sigh of relief that it’s not following Spider-Man as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, but it still seems like PS4 fans are getting a slightly better deal here...
