Marvel's The Avengers Game: 10 Things You Need To Know
5. A "Five Years Later" Time-Jump
The trailer sees the heroes gathered together, only for disaster to strike and the Avengers apparently unable to stop it. This leads to their break up, and a five year hiatus before the game picks up again.
The time jump allows them to start with a bang but still have a fresh start feel once you get into the game proper, so it feels like a smart move. The approach paid off in Endgame, and there’s no reason it wouldn’t here.
Considering each character is set to be playable, this time jump approach may mean you starting as just a single hero then assembling the team over the course of the first act.
Like unlocking powers on a skill tree, you’d be unlocking heroes and everything they bring to the team, letting you get to grips with what will likely be quite varied mechanics early on.
The initial teaser trailer had a Black Widow voice over, as various iconic imagery from the other heroes lay scattered. This suggests Natasha may be the one to get the gang back together, and you may be playing as her right at the start.
Good job they seem to have kitted her out then.
