Mass Effect: 10 Most Fan-Pleasing Moments In The Trilogy

10. Grunt Survives The Rachni Cave (ME 3)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEw6XZyDEAA Mass Effect 3 pulled out all the stops to deliver on every past plot thread converging into one epic finale. That meant character arcs had to be rounded out, and all sorts of 'hero moments' could spring up when you least expected them. One such thing was the action movie-standard "Go on ahead, I'll hold them off" scene with Grunt in the Rachni cave - something that could actually go two ways and see him die, depending on how you treated the Rachni Queen earlier. The best turnout, is after watching Grunt wade on into the chasing forces in a whirl of shotgun blasts and shoulder barges (fulfilling his multi game-long wish of needing a release for his Krogan bloodlust), he eventually emerges at the last second, drenched in the blood of his enemies, before uttering the words "Anybody got anything to eat?" before collapsing. The score and subtle piano stabs in the background tip the nod to Dom's death scene from Gears of War 3, and considering this could be the end for Grunt if you haven't set things up right, makes it all the more impactful if he did make it out.
