Mass Effect: 15 Easter Eggs, Secrets & References You Totally Missed

5. The Three Voices Of The Catalyst

You were probably too busy being angry about the ending to notice, but ME3's climactic moment where Shepard talks to the Catalyst (the crazy AI in charge of the Reapers) actually has three voices melded together. Internet sleuths found that this wasn't just any three voices however; the Catalyst combines together the voice of Mark Meer (male Shepard), Jennifer Hale (female Shepard) and the child you see regularly in Shepard's dreams to create a construct that has all three. If you listen carefully through separate speakers, you can clearly hear them all, too. This begs the question: does the Catalyst actually know and tap into Shepard's personality to create a familiar tone? It seems as if Bioware intended the Catalyst to be an extension of Shepard and his/her choices, hence why it appears to have these three voices melded into one. Alternatively, maybe Bioware just wanted to put them in and see if anybody would actually notice.
