4. Space Battles

For a sci-fi game spanning countless planets and civilisations, Mass Effect didn't feature very much in the way of space itself. This time around, there's been rumours circulating that Mass Effect 4 might feature some playable spaceship battles. Why it'd be great: Space battles are cool, and there hasn't been enough of them in AAA franchises of late. The ship upgrades to the Normandy were nice, but it'd be even more impactful if you were upgrading a ship that you could then fly into battle yourself. Why it won't happen: Simply put, space battles would be too much of an investment for Bioware, with not enough payoff. Mass Effect has always been about scope, and the space battles would have to be pretty grand in scale for it to be worth it. Rather than half-baked space battle mini-game segments, we'd much prefer for Bioware to focus on the stuff that's important. Set your sights on Star Citizen and No Man's Sky if you're looking for next-gen spaceship dogfights.
