Mass Effect 4: 10 Essential Things It Must Get Right
3. Lose The Micro-Transactions
The idea of micro-transactions is easily one of the worst trends of modern gaming. Born from the mobile arena, the idea is that after purchasing a game you'll then fork out additional money for smaller perks such as additional weapons, cars, items etc. - from inside the game itself. In theory you're already so invested in the experience at hand that you don't mind dropping a few notes on whatever's right in front of you, but even though they're fairly small sums of cash overall, it's the idea that on-disc content or small supplementary items require additional cash to enjoy that some people find plain insulting. Luckily the single player wasn't drastically affected by this sort of thing, although you could extrapolate that as multiplayer factored into your Galactic Readiness stat, the micro-transactions that invaded it still mattered. Still, micro-transactions are far too frequently placed amongst the industry's biggest titles, and it's a disturbing trend that needs to be reigned in and applied to far less essential parts of the game.
