4. Returning Alien Races

One of the key factors in making the Mass Effect universe feel alive was the hugely memorable alien races, and the various characters representing them. From the slow, forceful Elcors to the disciplined, militaristic Turians, it's hard to imagine a Mass Effect game that doesn't feature these iconic alien races in any way. Thankfully, BioWare have confirmed that many of the alien races will once again appear in the next Mass Effect game, despite convincing rumours of it taking place in a new galaxy. The Normandy's ragtag band of various allied races served to provide a strong emotional core to the series, and it's good to see that there will potentially be a similar premise in the fourth game. We could do without yet another dull male human joining us again though (looking at you, Kaiden, Jacob and James).
