Mass Effect 4: 10 Ways It Can Revolutionise The Franchise
5. Space Combat
Mass Effect has seen no shortage of epic space battles. The third game concluded with an incredible battle where thousands of ships from across the galaxy face off against an armada of Reapers. But as awesome of a sight as that was, in the back of your mind you wished you could be playing that instead of merely watching. This thought was by no means new. Ever since the first game, Mass Effect fans have dreamed of being able to pilot the Normandy themselves and engage in actual battles. With each new installment, fans could be heard asking for it. And yet despite this, Bioware never fulfilled our wish. Mass Effect 3 even had the perfect opening for a new space battle system, what with the galaxy wide war with the Reapers. So with the next game in the series acting as a fresh start of sorts, its about time that space battles were added. It would be so incredibly satisfying to stand on the flight deck of your starship, give battle commands, and see those commands manifest through action. There could even be opportunities to craft a mini-narrative into the battle itself by adding in strategic and moral choices. This would go a long way into making you truly feel like a captain of a starship. With the main trilogy over, it is now time for the series to reinvent itself and add to the already solid foundation. Players expect to see and do new things going forward. You'd be hard pressed to find any fan who thinks ship vs. ship combat wouldn't be an awesome gameplay addition to the franchise.
