This almost goes without saying, but you'd be surprised how many people think "they're only doing another Mass Effect because they have to". Perhaps it's a valid point; the franchise is easily the studio's most successful effort both financially and culturally despite everything, it's a household name - and in the end we all know a few things about it from the iconic designs of the Asari to the Normandy's shape and Commander Shepard's recognisable face. On the other hand that means whatever Bioware want to do next probably HAS to be tied into this universe somehow for the sake of rebuilding their mainstream reputation outside of Dragon Age. With new IP Shadow Realms now cancelled and the rumours of ME 4 centring around it having nothing in common with the original trilogy, it means whatever design doc they've got worked up could be moulded into a Mass Effect title anyway. Let's just hope it's Mass Effect in more than just name.
