Mass Effect 5: 10 Perfect Ways Bioware Can Save The Franchise
7. Separate Multiplayer & Single-Player Into Standalone Releases
Let's just be honest: Gamers invested in Mass Effect as a story couldn't give two hoots about the multiplayer. Yes, they'll play it for a handful of matches, but it's not the driving force, whatsoever. Conversely, those who really adore the multiplayer - and they do exist, hence Mass Effect 3's player base staying strong to this day - aren't replaying the stories over and over, either.
So, please everybody. Separate the two chunks of the game into completely different releases.
Let the multiplayer portion of Bioware (the guys that took over the project in Andromeda's case) have their own standalone release, and flesh that portion of the game's mechanics out in a way that benefits online competition. You can even make it free-to-play, falling back on microtransactions to sustain, for the sake of satisfying those single-player gamers who would complain a mode was being removed entirely.
Said narrative-lovers though? They would get a dedicated single-player Mass Effect with no distractions.
No bolted on 'Galactic Readiness', no arbitrary 'companion apps' or 'Strike Team missions' to appease. I dare say nobody on the story side of things would really care if Bioware announced multiplayer was being siphoned off, as it can only strengthen two sides to Mass Effect that right now, feel leagues apart.
