8. Minigames
It's a notable phenomenon in gaming that some of the greatest games also feature some of the best, most in-depth minigames. Final Fantasy VIII and The Witcher 3 are both examples of great titles that have awesome card-based ones, whilst Red Dead Redemption recreates traditional cowboy competitions like Horseshoes and Liar's Dice. Minigames are often a good way to offer a distraction from the main gameplay, should it get a bit repetitive - and Andromeda has ample opportunity to exploit that. Mass Effect 2 missed a great chance to incorporate this feature: visiting the engineering room can trigger a game of Skyllian-Five with Ken and Gabby at one point - but unfortunately, we never actually get to play the game. And yes, there are Quasar machines on the Citadel, but they're little more than random number slot machines. Andromeda would be perfect for incorporating minigames - instead of simply warping to your destination via the galaxy map (although if players do want to press on, this should be an option), you could interact with the ship's crew during the journey, with different modes offered by different crew members. It would be a cool way to deviate from the action for a while, relax a bit and have some fun hanging out playing poker with the squaddies.
