Mass Effect Andromeda: 10 Impressions From The First 10 Hours
8. Dialogue & Voice Acting Are... Not Great
Oh boy, brace yourselves. BioWare fans are used to dealing with some hokey dialogue and dodgy voice acting every now and then, but Andromeda really feels like the Mass Effect' series worst effort in that regard.
While it's easy to want to believe the game is simply off to a rough start, the pervasively awful, cornball writing and astoundingly robotic delivery is mind-bogglingly bad. Take this howlingly awful exchange that's already gone viral and is sure to remain a fine source of mockery long after the game is released.
That BioWare let such horrendous performance and voice direction slip through the cracks feels like a testament to the belief of many fans that the game was rushed to completion, and due care hasn't been taken to ensure a polished end-product.
"My face is tired" is just one example. There's a lot of lazily-written dialogue and a lot of the performances are just blandly forgettable, like the voice actors had somewhere else to be.
