Mass Effect Andromeda: 10 New Gameplay Features That Will Change Everything
3. The Nomad
The Mako is one of the most unjustly hated parts of the original Mass Effect.
While there were plenty of problems with BioWare’s 2007 sci-fi epic, the most universally lambasted element was Commander Shepard’s four-wheel drive, a hulking tank that controlled like a pile of bricks attached to a BMX.
Although it might have been a nightmare to control in some of the game’s more confined elements, it was actually pretty fun to bounce around intergalactic deserts with its overblown suspension, hence BioWare’s decision to bring back a new and improved vehicle in the form of The Nomad.
In a trailer distributed to Andromeda Initiates, the Nomad appears faster and more nimble than the Mako, and comes equipped with a speed boost function. The vehicle can be used as cover, can be decked out with new paint jobs, and can even scan planets for resources. It just wouldn’t be Mass Effect without scanning for resources.
Being able to physically navigate planets is a lot more enticing than simply watching it happen in a cutscene, and although we could all end up once again hating the Mako 2.0, it’ll probably still be preferable to walking from A to B.
