Mass Effect Andromeda: 9 Burning Questions It Must Answer

3. Will Anything From The Original Trilogy Matter Whatsoever?

Bioware's Aaron Flynn already noted that Andromeda will be "a new story" and that "it would be very hard [to say this] but also that you need to understand how [Mass Effect 3] ended”. However, that only implies it's the conclusion to the trilogy that's taken into account i.e. the Starchild/Crucible/all-hell-breaks-loose-and-everyone-is-disappointed part.

Flynn didn't go into detail as to whether any other perhaps race-related factors will matter, say whether we'll encounter any Quarians who'll speak on potentially peaceful relations with the Geth, or if any younger Krogans are now unaffected by the Genophage.

Such things could easily be taken care of in a few dialogue scenes where a new character asks "What do you remember?", only for your choices to dictate the new world's backstory. It worked a treat in Mass Effect 2 and more recently, The Witcher 3, and although Andromeda represents a big step forward for the franchise, this could be a subtle way to tie it into the original trilogy.
