Mass Effect Andromeda: 9 Gameplay Overhauls You Need To Know About
7. Class Abilities Can Be Toggled During Gameplay
This is a big one. Formerly, once you decided whether you were a Vanguard, Infiltrator, Soldier etc., whichever main class power that came alongside was yours for the duration of the game.
In Andromeda, that's no longer the case. Instead, at any time you can hop into the pause menu and swap out the abilities you'd like to specialise in for any given scenario. That means you'll have access to everything from the Biotic Charge to slow-motion, a stealthy cloak etc. whenever necessary, hopefully meaning Bioware can design missions and infiltration scenarios that will rely on keeping you on your toes.
This 'anything goes' approach won't extend to multiplayer, however. There, you'll have to pick a class before a match and see it through to the end. As a positive, this helps differentiate the two modes, letting you practice in the single-player with all abilities at once, before honing your skills online.
