Mass Effect Andromeda CES Trailer: 10 Reasons You Should Be Worried

9. Where's The Extended Footage?

It was always a bit too weird that Andromeda's first in-game showing was at PlayStation Experience 2016, where it basically functioned as a fancy tech demo highlighting all sorts of 4K/HDR lighting effects... and nothing else.

I mean, this is ostensibly Mass Effect 4, a continuation that needed to hit every beat of its reintroduction with laser-focussed accuracy, and EA continue to think the best way to do so is to drip-feed the thing at major conferences, resulting in next to zero big takeaways?

The Game Awards trailer was one big combat arena where the only thing we were left discussing was how broken a certain character's facial animation was, and at time of writing, the CES 2017 trailer was yet another action-focussed showcase, clocking in at a paltry two minutes in length.

It's not a case of the expo being Nvidia's show or the demographic 'not being all gamers', if you're going to show the next Mass Effect, it needs to be spot on. Having the messaging around the game be, "No seriously, there's more coming, just wait! We promise!" is doing far more damage than good.
