Mass Effect Andromeda: Everything We Know So Far

8. No More Paragon/Renegade System

Across the trilogy, Mass Effect's initially genius conversational system slowly started to be picked apart and lambasted, mostly because you always knew what were the 'right' and 'wrong' things to say.

Positive options were up top, negative at the bottom and a 'meh, whatever' line in the middle. Contextual Paragon and Renegade options that appeared in Mass Effect 2 were also very clearly labelled as good or bad, and all of this is a mentality Bioware now want to shake up.

After all, it's harder to make a gut reaction or take a more honest reading on a situation when you're presented with such binary choices. As such, in an interview with GamesRadar, Bioware's Mac Walters stated, "I think now we’re moving away from that. We’ve been looking for other ways to engage more of those shades of grey; less about it being obviously being right or wrong and more about giving people a sense of choice."
