Mass Effect Movie: 10 Ways To Make It Not Suck

7. The Right Scriptwriter

This gentleman is none other than Drew Karpyshyn, the man not only behind Mass Effect 1 and 2's plot, but also the scribe of three of the Mass Effect tie-in books. In other words, he is probably the go-to guy for writing anything to do with Mass Effect since he practically created most of it. He is, however, primarily a videogame scriptwriter, but there's no reason his talents can't be transferred over to making a movie about a franchise he's been involved with for years. If you haven't read the tie-in novels, (Revelation, Ascension and Retribution), they're a really great read and fill in a great deal about the universe and popular in-game characters such as Saren. Unfortunately, if early rumours are to be believed, Universal may be hiring Morgan Davis Foehl, who has written screenplays for films such as I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Adam Sandler's Click. Don't do this Universal - we'll have the mastermind behind Mass Effect writing our movie, thanks very much.

Dan Curtis is approximately one-half videogame knowledge, and the other half inexplicable Geordie accent. He's also one quarter of the Factory Sealed Retro Gaming podcast.
