Mass Effect: Ranking Every Main Squad Member In The Original Trilogy

9. Grunt

The Krogan clone who was bred to be a super soldier by a warlord is one of the most exciting companions in Mass Effect 2. Grunt was grown in a tank, and after the player frees him from that tank he essentially grows up on the Normandy.

Grunt struggles with an identity crisis for most of the game, trying to work out who he is and who he wants to be while also fighting and feeding his urge for violence. Shepard slowly becoming a friend to him over the course of the journey and then helping him join a clan of his people feels incredibly well earned.

Once Grunt becomes Urdnot Grunt and sets out on his own in Mass Effect 3, it is actually rather heart-warming to see how far he's come even if he still loves destroying his enemies. He has a fantastic bombastic energy and his lack of a filter gives him some memorable moments of hilarity.
