6. Mega Man 6 (1994)
I like to look at the last three Mega Man games released on the NES as a sort of trilogy, incorporating their own rules and style that differ from the original three games. In that way, Mega Man 6 feels like the third entry in a trilogy: flawed but ultimately satisfactory. The backdrop of a robot tournament orchestrated by the mysterious Dr. X (who is most definitely not Dr. Wily in disguise) is a neat concept, and the selection of robot masters feels cool and mostly original (except the awfully familiar Wind Man. Paging Mega Man 2...). The levels are nicely constructed and there are a good number of worthwhile music tracks. Even though it's a laughably easy experience, Mega Man 6 delivers on what you want from a Mega Man game if nothing else. Not great, but not bad either.
