Metal Gear Rising Revengeance: 10 Reasons It Won't Live Up To The Hype

1. Move To Platinum Games

Revengeance has been in development for quite a while, pretty much ever since MGS4 came out back in 2008. Our alarm bells soon started ringing when it was announced that Hideo Kojima wasn't writing the game, and was merely serving as a producer. The first trailer that was released showed off some impressive slicing physics, and reception to this was generally positive, but then information went pretty quiet about the game, as it was quietly cancelled by Kojima Productions, who said they found it difficult to design a game around the concept of cutting. Development eventually moved to Platinum Games, who changed the game's setting to allow them more freedom, and reportedly excised some of the stealth elements that had been originally planned. Now, it's never a good sign when a game changes developers mid-way, but the results can be decent (look at Sleeping Dogs). Still, what we've seen so far isn't much encouraging, suggesting that the original vision has been vastly altered for this final product, and that the new version was sort of being made up as they went along. This demo, at least, reflects that. What did you think of the Revengeance demo? Let us know in the comments below.
