19. Grey Fox/Frank Jaegar - Paul Bettany

A truly tortured character, Grey Fox needs to have a mysterious, somewhat imposing presence on screen the first few times we meet him, only to be slowly upturned by a tragic backstory - depending on which time period we're focusing on, of course.

There are plenty to pick from, to be honest, as Kojima-san has shown Jaegar in every state from before he was fitted with an exoskeleton - back when he was a soldier duelling with Snake on a minefield - all the way through his emergence as the lab experiment Null, and the Cyborg Ninja we know and love.

Bettany has the appropriate physicality to throw his weight into any of the character's long and drawn out fights, ultimately embodying the mentality of a scarred individual when he's 'born again' as MGS 1's Grey Fox.
