Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain - 10 Insane New Features You Must See
2. Quiet Can Be Airdropped In, And Is Essentially Superwoman
Here's a question; what's more awesome? A loyal eyepatch'd husky-dog with a killer smirk, or a sniper rifle-toting femme fatale who comes to your rescue whenever you need her most? Don't worry, you don't have to pick just one, Phantom Pain has you covered with both. We'd previously seen the cleavage-heavy mute sniper Quiet in the original reveal trailer, but only now do we know that she's actually an ally, rather than another The End-style boss battle. After being airdropped in on-demand, Quiet actually moves with superhuman speed and precision, darting off into the jungle ahead and jumping inhumanly high, kicking up a cloud of dust so powerful it scares all the nearby animals into running away. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but then again neither did a man made of bees, so we'll let it slide. All of this does enable her to be an incredibly useful partner on the battlefield, as she'll set up shop on any number of high vantage points, letting her rifle's green laser showing you what and who she's aiming at. You're then free to tell her to wait for your order to take down multiple enemies with sequential headshots, or in a great moment in the demo just as Snake has been seen, Quiet fires off a round to the guard who has the drop on Snake to pop his helmet off, leaving him open to a quick tranquilliser round to the dome. Combining Quiet's abilities with that of DD on the ground is going to make you one hell of a force to be reckoned with, but just as the demo was wrapping up, Konami had one more surprise up their sleeve...
