Admittedly, if you know Metal Gear Solid like the back of your hand, this might not be that surprising. Still, Solid Snake could definitely be making an appearance in The Phantom Pain and it could help establish the future of the series. Like Liquid, Solid would be twelve years old when The Phantom Pain begins. If Liquid can somehow find his way to Africa or Afghanistan, why couldn't Solid? It actually makes more sense for Snake to show up in The Phantom Pain as it would help tie a lot of loose ends up for the series. At some point, Big Boss has to become the villain (as seen in the original Metal Gear games) - a younger Solid Snake might take over for future Metal Gear Solid titles. Something else that needs to be pointed out is the changed voice cast for The Phantom Pain. In Metal Gear Solid 3, Big Boss was voiced by David Hayter, well known for also voicing Solid Snake. However, for Metal Gear Solid V, Kiefer Sutherland has taken over the role of Big Boss. Reportedly, Kojima wanted an older, more experienced actor to take the role but this is perhaps a cover-up for Solid Snake's involvement in The Phantom Pain - after all, it wouldn't make sense for David Hayter to be voicing two major characters in the same game. Potentially, following The Phantom Pain, Kojima could look to give the original Metal Gear titles a 3D reworking - if this is the case, Big Boss has to take a villainous turn at some point. Why not begin his downfall in The Phantom Pain while also re-introducing his future nemesis? Solid Snake doesn't necessarily have to appear in Metal Gear Solid V but it would be pretty freaking awesome if he did. Agree? Disagree? I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
