Metal Gear Solid V: 8 Reasons To Be Concerned

7. Dark Tone/Themes

Revenge The E3 Red Band trailer really showed what an incredibly depressing story we may be about to bear witness to. Donna Burke, who sang the great Heavens Divide in Peace Walker, is once again lending her voice talents to the Metal Gear universe in the form of The Sins Of The Father, which debuted with the aforementioned trailer. The song itself seems to give a lot of insight into the game, but that is for another discussion. The overall tone and sound of the song is very foreboding, and goes along with the grizzly events that we see throughout the trailer. We already knew that this game will trace the events that led to the ultimate downfall of Big Boss and transformation into the maniacal villain we first battled in the original Metal Gear game for the MSX. The red band trailer showed numerous instances of torture, executions, emergency surgeries, child soldiers, as well as the different phantom pains that Big Boss and Kaz are wrestling with. I do worry that all of this could add up to a Metal Gear experience that is very emotionally draining and depressing, which could drag down the overall experience.
