Metal Gear Solid V: 8 Reasons To Be Concerned

4. Lack Of Cut-Scenes

Cutscene This is the one item that may get the most reaction out of the 8 I have featured. Kojima has stated in interviews that the cut-scenes in MGS V will be severely limited compared to all previous entries in the series. In the past, these have been one of the biggest knocks against the series by naysayers, but I for one have absolutely loved them in each game. The scene on the Volta River after Act 3 of MGS 4 stands out to me as one of the greatest in the history of gaming. Heck, there isn't much that Hollywood has produced that can match what Liquid Ocelot pulled off, as he slaughtered all the US troops after The System had been taken offline. These cut-scenes have served to add so much to the storytelling element over the life of this series, and I fear that the big drop in these could really end up hurting the game. Kojima has also stated how he will be giving so much control to the players, in terms of story progression, and I assume this is the reason that the cut-scenes will not play as big a role as they have in the past. With MGS V serving as the game to close out most of the Metal Gear lore, the way in which Kojima tells that story will be of the utmost importance. I fear that by abandoning the way he has done this in the past, he could be hurting the final product of what should be the greatest game in the series.
