Metal Gear Solid V: Every Piece Of Cut Content You Need To See

8. Paz€™s Interactions Were Meant To Be WAY More Conversational

Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain Paz Lives
Konami

An initially controversial inclusion turned "Oh, okay"-reaction when we realised she was nothing more than a dreamlike hallucination, Paz' return in Phantom Pain (after genuinely exploding in front of our faces in Ground Zeroes) was just that little bittoocrazy.

In TPP she exists as this weird commentary on the nature of peace and positivityinawarzone, but gameplay-wise you trigger a series of dialogue prompts by bringing her photographs obtained from past members of your former base. Venom doesn't really say a whole lot, and instead it's Ocelot who does the convincing that the person in front of you actually is Paz Ortega.

Audio files embedded in the game show that Snakewasmeant to interact with Paz waymore. No less than 42 individual files were pulled that include everything from consoling her as she's visibly distressed, to just simple groans and assured noises that would've given their conversation a more natural flow.

Perhaps these were removed to aid in the "WTF"-style nature these exchanges have in the first place, as once Boss wakes up, he never mentions it to anyone - reconciling the visionsto a bad dream. Beingwe're actually playing as the Medic the whole time, these scenes could be manifestations of his guilt to not save Paz in the first place (hence why he wouldn't know how to talk to her), yet in aid of the real final twist, it would've been better to simply include themin aid of Paz's own "She's not real" revelation being more impactful.
