Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Everything We Know So Far
10. The Fulton Recovery System Is Going To Make The Game
Alongside letting your horse make a mess on the ground that patrols will then slip on (yes, welcome to Metal Gear), we've got Peace Walker's Fulton Recovery System (which you may know from Nolan's The Dark Knight when Batman gets air-lifted out of Hong Kong). In the portable or HD release this was used to attach markers to enemy guards you'd taken out, which were then airlifted back to your base for the purpose of building your own private army. Well, Big Boss' Militaires Sans Frontières (Soldiers Without Borders) is still being amassed as he pursues the overall goal of creating somewhere for patriotically-minded individuals to put their skills and levels of devotion to better use than - in his eyes - those of any government. To create his army in-game you get to use the Fulton on everything from soldiers to vehicles, armaments and even goats. Wait, what? Yes, goats. We saw in the Gamescom demo Snake attaching a marker to a small creature, who then gets whisked off back across the ocean to your base. Quite what part a goat will play in taking the fight to the opposition is anybody's guess, but knowing Kojima it'll no doubt be incredibly memorable regardless - here's hoping for a loyal, screaming companion who'll charge into combat alongside you.
